SAFE@LAST Charity Film
When it comes to video production in Yorkshire, some projects stay with you forever. Our work with children’s charity SAFE@LAST was one of those. The brief was clear but powerful – show how the cycle of abuse works, and how it can be broken. We knew the film needed to connect with a younger audience and make them stop scrolling.
To hit the right note, we collaborated with music artist Jay Mya. He created an original track which ran through the film like a pulse, giving the story rhythm and weight. From the very start, the aim was not just to make a film, but to make people feel something.
The production itself was ambitious. Across just two days, our Yorkshire videographers worked through a wide variety of locations to bring the story to life. We had serving police officers on set, complete with a squad car. We filmed in a real courtroom, a working police station and holding cell, plus a school bus. Each location added authenticity, grounding the story in real places familiar to our audience.
The challenge was huge – balancing a difficult subject matter with creative storytelling, while making sure the campaign could work as a piece of video marketing in Yorkshire and beyond. By using real environments and a powerful soundtrack, the film felt raw and immediate, not staged. That authenticity made all the difference.
The final edit was heart-wrenching but hopeful. It showed how “hurt people hurt people” – and just as importantly, how the cycle can be broken. The film went out online and in schools, reaching the audiences who most needed to see it. Feedback from both SAFE@LAST and viewers was overwhelmingly positive, and it remains one of the projects we’re proudest of.
