How do you bring a sterile tech park to life? That was the challenge we faced when Mira Tech Park approached us for a promotional film. Based just outside Coventry, the site is a hub where new technologies are conceived, tested, and pushed to their limits. Think hydrogen fuel systems, innovative engines, and eco-friendly breakthroughs – all happening behind closed doors, where companies have the freedom to succeed or fail without outside eyes.
The brief was to show Mira as a vibrant, futuristic place - a space buzzing with experimentation. The client referenced a 20-minute video art piece by Fantasma, which used stark visuals to contrast technology with the natural world. Our challenge was to condense that style and tone into something no longer than a minute.
We found our through-line in the hexagon – a key element of Mira’s branding. By weaving the motif into our shots and transitions, we gave the final film a sense of cohesion. This motif became the bridge between nature, technology, and the futuristic feel we wanted to create.
The park itself is vast, spanning more than 40 acres, with a high-speed car test track running straight through it. Cars legally hitting 150 miles per hour gave us plenty of visual spectacle to play with. But with an industrial site, not every location looks camera-ready. Our Coventry videographers scouted the grounds in detail, identifying shapes, lines, and backdrops that could act as natural segue points between shots. This careful planning meant we could punch-up the visuals and avoid the film feeling too cold or mechanical.
During production, we mixed sweeping aerial shots with on-the-ground footage, layering in natural textures to offset the industrial feel. The combination of speed, geometry, and contrast gave the piece a cinematic energy. The result was a short film which felt more like an artwork than a standard corporate promo – aligning perfectly with the brief.
