In Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire, Simply Thrilled has truly embedded itself within the fabric of the area, capturing its essence with the dedication of a master potter shaping clay. Our intimate knowledge of the city and its surrounds allows us to navigate the rich tapestry of landscapes and urban environments, from the historic potteries that give the area its unique heritage to the natural beauty of the Staffordshire Moorlands. This deep understanding has enabled us to produce a diverse portfolio of projects. Think films like our recruitment campaign for the NHS, or our dynamic promotional video for a Staffordshire outdoor adventure company, using the stunning Peak District as a backdrop.
Our experiences filming in the area have been as unique as the projects themselves. There was the time we captured a kestral over Trentham Gardens, creating a perfect, tranquil setting for a wellness brand's video, or the challenge of filming a high-energy music video in Hanley's bustling city centre, orchestrating shots amidst the spontaneous rhythms of city life. These anecdotes not only showcase our versatility and creativity but also highlight our ability to weave the distinctive character of Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire into compelling narratives which engage and resonate.
Some productions are about more than just capturing what’s on stage – they’re about bottling the atmosphere of a live performance and making viewers feel like they’re right there. That was the challenge with Jingah, a spectacular show in Stoke-on-Trent combining music, dance, and a powerful eco-conscious message. For us, it was a chance to show what high-quality video production in Stoke on Trent can achieve.
The client wanted the finished film to be “Netflix-ready”, which meant meeting strict technical requirements. Netflix demands true 4K resolution captured in-camera, so we carefully planned each shot, recce’d the venue, and positioned five cameras to cover every angle. Easier said than done, given that performers were swinging from trapezes, interacting with the audience, and moving across the stage in ways that standard camera placements couldn’t always capture.
To get it right, we went beyond our usual live event setup. After attending multiple rehearsals, we identified key moments where a static camera wouldn’t do justice to the performance. We pitched the idea of taking a steadicam – and sometimes a crane – onto the stage itself, weaving around the performers to capture immersive shots. This approach meant that while our multi-camera rig covered the big picture, we could also isolate standout moments with movement and intimacy.
It was extra effort, but it paid off. By combining wide coverage with dynamic, cinematic shots, we avoided the “flat” look that can make stage recordings feel distant. Instead, the final edit pulled viewers into the heart of the performance, amplifying both the artistry and the show’s environmental message.
The result? A polished, broadcast-quality film that captured Jingah’s energy and translated it into an on-screen experience that felt every bit as mesmeric as being in the theatre. Feedback from the client and audience was hugely positive, and the project remains one of our proudest examples of live event film production in Stoke on Trent.
If you’re planning a live performance, cultural event, or corporate showcase and need a Stoke on Trent videographer who can think strategically as well as creatively, Simply Thrilled is here to help. We bring cinematic standards, technical precision, and a passion for storytelling to every project – whether it’s destined for the big screen, broadcast, or social channels.
